Serving clients throughout Los Angeles
Holding space for empowering postpartum for all families.
About Me
My name is Safara Cooper. I became a birth and postpartum doula, first trained in 2013 by Ancient Song Doula Services. I began actively working in 2016, and then became a newborn care specialist in 2018 with The Newborn Care Training Academy. A vast majority of the work I do is overnight, while occasionally doing a day shift for an overnight client. I began focusing my energy on postpartum care because I was blown away with how a negative postpartum experience was so normalized in our society. With postpartum, I want all of my clients to feel nurtured, supported and honored in their transition. After having my own children, I saw firsthand how quickly the dishes and laundry can pile up, personal care and hygiene become neglected, sleep is nowhere in sight, and hormones are at an all-time high. Everything hurts and everything is leaking, the baby is crying and maybe the parents are, too. This takes the joy out of what should be an otherwise beautiful experience. Postpartum should be a time to heal and bond, rather than feeling like drowning in endless tasks and exhaustion. I aim to make postpartum different. Part of my job is to make it a positive memory for my clients to look back on fondly in the future.
“Postpartum is a quest back to yourself. Alone in your body again. You will never be the same. You are stronger than you were.”
-Amethyst Joy
